Apple's new job offer relates to headphone research

October 09, 2019

Apple, a big American brand, is well known at home and abroad. Apple owns many kinds of electronic products, such as mobile phone, tablet, laptop, earphone (Headband Earphones, Earbuds Earphones, In Ear Earphones, Bluetooth Headsets, TWS Bluetooth Earbuds, Wireless Earbud) and so on. Continuous innovation, upgrade, give users a better experience.

On June 1st, according to foreign media reports, Apple is continuing its recruitment work related to augmented reality and virtual reality. Apple has just announced a new job recruitment for 3D UI framework engineers, and this position seems to be related to Apple's ongoing research and development of augmented reality headsets.

In the job description, Apple said the company's technology development team is looking for a 3D UI framework engineer to bring "the next generation of interactive experience" to the company's platform.

Apple said the position required the development of a software system that would affect the interaction between developers and users and hardware products. In addition, the position needs to be integrated into augmented reality and virtual reality in the form of Apple ARKit and Metal 2 framework, which implies that it is related to Apple's augmented reality headset.

Apple also said that candidates need more than five years of software development experience, a degree in computer science or equivalent.

This is not the first time we have seen such an Apple recruitment notice. These jobs have proven that Apple is continuing to develop augmented reality headsets or smart glasses.

Apple’s new job offer seems to be related to Apple’s ongoing research and development of augmented reality headsets

According to a Bloomberg report in November last year, Apple hopes to release its augmented reality headset in 2020, and Apple has developed a system called "rOS" for the device. Unlike some of the existing AR or VR solutions available on the market, Apple's devices do not require a tracker or camera. Instead, all hardware is integrated into the inside of the smart glasses. At the same time, this device will rely on Wig 2.0 wireless standard communication to get rid of the heavy cable constraints. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman just said on Twitter that the new job is ready for the rOS team.

Apple CEO Cook has said that Apple has been investing a lot of money in augmented reality, which is good for customers and a huge business opportunity for Apple.

The development of augmented reality smart glasses will be the latest achievement of Apple's efforts in the field of augmented reality. Apple has been trying to provide users with an augmented reality experience through their smartphones. For example, iPhone X users' Animoji augmented reality emoticons and third-party apps that use the iPhone X's dual camera to achieve augmented reality.

In addition to software, Apple has been working hard on hardware. Apple has previously filed a patent to integrate augmented reality systems into more compact smart glasses. After all, for a product that needs to be worn on the user's face for a long time, comfort and lighter weight are important.
